What is FFRPG?

In the Summer of 2009, a large planetary body drifted through Earth's solar system on it's way to the outer reaches of the Milky Way. It passed close enough to Earth for it's gravitational field to cause a temporary shift in our planet's orbit around the sun, as well as a shifting of the Earth on it's axis. These shifts were only a few degrees, and short-lived, but they were enough to send the Earth into total chaos. Human and mutant alike found themselves surrounded by madness, and struggling daily to survive it.
Oceans and seas rose from their beds as the strongest earthquakes in history took their toll. Places that had never had earthquakes before were suddenly having to deal with immense shifts in the Earth's crust, shifts that measured anywhere from feet to miles in distance. Tectonic plate movements so violent modern equipment was unable to accurately measure the forces being unleashed, even before it was destroyed. The very continents were on the move at a pace unheard of in the whole of known history.
They closed on one another. Instead of millions of years, they converged in a matter of months. The end of 2009, and the beginning of 2010 and beyond, saw a very different planet from the one that had existed prior to the rogue's passing. Very little of what had been before remained. Cities were laid to waste. Billions were dead, and over 75% of the planet's land masses had been wiped clean of nearly all life by tidal waves that topped even Everest.
In a matter of days, the ring of fire's volcanic activity had spewed forth more molten material then ever before, and clouded the skies with their thick smoke and ash. Earth found itself on the verge of entering another mini ice age. Temperatures dropped. Crops worldwide failed. Sea life suffered incredible die offs. The sun's energy and warmth was almost completely blocked. Torrential acid rains brought no relief to the struggling survivors. It was a time of death, destruction, fear, darkness, and growing cold for both human and mutant
The Earth resettled into it's position in the solar system in a matter of weeks, and righted itself on it's axis, but the world would never the be same. The survivors find themselves at a crossroads, a beginning and an end. What few survive have found they have to fight to live against nature, and sometimes against each other. They struggle in a whole new world, a ruined world. A place here even basic technology is difficult to find or use. A post apocalyptic disaster the likes of which none of them ever dreamed could happen.
Some of the questions that come to the minds of many; Is this the end for human and mutant, or a new beginning? Who will survive? Who can be trusted? How do I find eatable food, drinkable water, serviceable clothes, and adequate shelter? If I become ill, will I find medicine? Who can be trusted and who can't? So many questions, and each answer is one of the keys to survival.
